Dave Walden installs Canada's largest rooftop solar energy system

Dave Walden installs Canada's largest roof-top photo-voltaic (PV) solar system on one of his buildings. The roof-top PV installation is a 250kW system comprising of 1,326 Canadian solar panels on approximately 75,000 square feet with a maximum rated capacity of 305kW direct current. Below you will find several pictures of the massive installation.

At Conestoga Roofing we see rooftop PV power generation systems as a move in the right direction to a better environment by reducing our overall carbon foot print. These PV systems will help reduce our reliance on fossil fuel based power sources. Since peak demand is typically during the daylight hours the solar systems will generate power during this highest demand periods offsetting overall system demand and the need to consume fossil fuels.

In addition to the environmental benefit the business model with Ontario's FIT program allows an excellent return on investment for building owners with larger roof areas. Systems can be customized ranging from 10kW up to 500kW.

Solar Roof Assessment & Feasibility

Conestoga Roofing now provides comprehensive roof assessments to determine the feasibility of solar installations. In light of the fact that roof-top solar power generation systems are intended to be in place for several decades we determine if the roof system will match the life span of any solar power generation system.

In our reports we provide details of the roof condition and the estimated life. The report contains pictures to illustrate the conditions of the roof as well as a detailed drawing with roof penetrations, drains, curbs, HVAC units, etc. In addition, we can provide estimates for the cost of any necessary repairs or upgrades, if necessary, to accommodate a long term system such as solar system on your roof-top.

Even if you are not considering a roof-top solar system the report can provide details of how you can extend the life of your roof so that you can avoid early roof replacement.
